Pugs of the Frozen
North by Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre
Young Shen is abandoned when his ship sinks in the Arctic.
He’s left with sixty six pugs and they make their way to a small village.
There’s a building with a sign “Po Of ice” which turns out to be the post office—a
couple of letters have fallen off the sign. Shen meets a girl named Sika, and
they enter the dogs in a sled race, competing against robot dogs, polar bears,
and a team of huskies shaved like poodles. Lots of fun, a bit of sadness, and
engaging illustrations. And yetis! Lots of yetis! For young readers looking for
a more challenging chapter book, and adults, too.
